Weebly for Education

A couple weeks ago I recommended Weebly to an 8th grade class who was doing a Revolution and Colonization media project.  The students who decided to use Weebly all signed up for accounts and created their sites.  After creating them, some students had trouble publishing because Weebly made them verify their cell phone numbers before their site got put up.

I had to contact Weebly support to get several of the websites published and in talking to them they let me know about Weebly for education.  I haven't used it yet with a class, but it looks very promising.  No more verifying cell phone numbers and it looks like it's completely free.  Next time your class completes a website project, make sure to check out Weebly for Education.

8th Grade Revolution /Colonization Digital Media Project

The 8th grade has been working hard on these wonderful Revolution/Colonization digital media projects.  Some examples are below in the Edcanvas.  Students had the freedom to choose what technology tools they would use for this project; they had to at least use two.  This freedom allowed to students to be super creative and all the projects are different.

Some did websites with embedded movies and timelines, others did Prezi's and movies.  We even had one student complete his project on Facebook by creating a Facebook Timeline of the revolution he researched.  Click on play canvas below to preview some of the projects.
