SharePoint Discussion Boards

This week's high school mini tech meeting is about SharePoint Discussion Boards. It's really simple and can serve as a great discussion and debate tool in the classroom. I recorded a little movie to help you with this if you forget what I show you in the training.

I also want to show you this one web tool Diigo.  It lets students highlight, add sticky notes, and bookmark websites.  You just download the app and dag it to your tool bar (make sure your bookmark toolbar is showing).  You can create groups and students can have discussions using the sticky note feature on here.  I will do a whole in-service on this later.  I just wanted to share in case some of you want to start using this tool.

Individual Meetings and Mini Technology Trainings

In the next couple of weeks I would like to personally sit down with every middle school and high school teacher to see how I can better support your class. Please start thinking about some technology goals and activities that you would like me to help you with. This year, I will also be monitoring your Sharepoint wikis. It's important to be consistent and everyone will be expected to keep there wikis up to date as we will be providing parents access to them very soon. Don't worry, I will help!
I will also be giving 15 min weekly technology trainings during your shared planning time. Each 15 minute session will cover one simple skill that will help you incorporate technology into your teaching. If any of you have any requests for these mini trainings please let me know.
