High School Technology Weekly Communication May 1 - 15, 2014

Thank you for your patience and support on running the Map Tests.Thank you for the comments and suggestions you provided me through the Technology Integrator Evaluation Survey.  Your motivation has given me fresh energy and perspective to reflect and improvise.

Important “Technology To-do” List for Teachers
I will be meeting with you to check on the following tasks, if you need assistance from me.

  • As all of us on BYOT program next year, you will be handing over the school device to IT department on the last day of school.  I know you have a lot of files stored in the local drive.  Kindly transfer them all to Google Drive or copy it to a pen drive/hard drive or write the files on CD/DVD.  The best choice will be to transfer the files either to Google Drive or Dropbox or any other cloud storage that you are using.
  • Moodle Rollover:  Think of whether you would like me to roll over the same course Moodle page that you have or create a new one.  The course calendars can continue if you are teaching the same course next year.
  • Teachers that are leaving, kindly transfer all the common files into shared folders
  • Advice on getting a BYOT:  Kindly let me know if you are planning to buy a MAC or PC.  I will note down your choice.  We need the count for providing enough adapters.

The Digital Divide and Tech Gurus group has put in a lot of effort in getting the 20 desktops to be delivered to “Seva Samajam School”.  They are packed and are ready to find their new home (or rather Lab).  We sincerely thank the school, specially Kevin Crouch, our IT Director, Sathish and Ramesh (our IT support) and Ms. Viraj Thakore for encouraging us.

From Lakshmi Vijayaraghavan’s Classroom:
Lakshmi shares a multimedia presentation made by Lovish who used Piktochart, Powtoon, Prezi to give her understanding.
Enjoy the richness of the multimedia presentation!

Web of Flexible Learning Tools

A flexible digital toolkit is essential for helping teachers design learning experiences that leverage the power of technology to transform learning.  The tools in this toolkit allows us to start with the learning goals and higher order thinking skills and make use of the technology to design learning experiences that provide students with opportunities to achieve those goals. Here is a thinglink image with the kit of learning tools for you.  This is a gift to us from Susan Oxnead in her blog:(http://thinglinkblog.com/2014/03/03/weaving-a-web-of-flexible-resources-with-thinglink/)
