Important Announcements:
Personalized Technology Professional Learning:
This year IT is changing the approach of Professional Development. I will meet you for an initial 20 minute meeting with each of you. If you are on Self Assessment Pathway, I am sure you have the Technology Standards as one of yours. During the initial meeting, we will discuss one or more goals related to the use of technology for teaching and learning. It could be as simple as using Google Tools for Collaboration in your classroom to an innovative Tech classrooms. We want to use your learning style as our strength in offering effective PD. The discussions will lead us to the follow-up meetings and actions. This is in addition to the regular tech sessions in the CIC around some common themes. Kindly use the following form to assist you in planning and recording the actions leading to our goals. TEMPLATE. Kindly make a copy of this template with your name and start using it.
Moodle Requirements:
The Moodle Rubric for grade 9 through 12 is here: MOODLE RUBRIC. Kindly self assess yourself before our initial meeting schedule. This will help me address your specific needs to support you in fulfilling this requirement.

Blendspace
I have recently used Blendspace (next.blendspace.com) as a reinforcement tool in my Modern World History classes. Blendspace allows you drag in videos from Youtube and other media sources, as well as any online articles. Students can then view the videos and read the articles at their leisure. Teachers can also create an online quiz based on the video/article that was assigned. The teacher provides a point value for the quiz which has to be reached by the student before the lesson is completed. One drawback, however, is that the quiz must be in multiple choice form. Although short and long answer questions are options, students scores cannot be tabulated. Nevertheless, blendspace is a very good tool to use if you want the students to study a topic in depth or as a form of review. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Tom Meyers
Lucidchart Pioneers @ AISC
Use Lucidchart to augment the learning process by creating flowcharts, mind maps and other diagrams. Enable students to easily collaborate in real-time on group projects. Two classes, one in English and one in World History, have started using it in their classrooms to make students think differently about organizing the materials. More on this will be coming up.....
"Flipping the Classroom" - Jennifer Brunson
After two years of struggling to get all the concepts and labs covered in AP Chemistry, I finally "took the plunge" and flipped the classroom. I had been toying with the idea for awhile, but I had a hard time wrapping my mind around the concept. Finally, "discovering" Paul Andersen's bozemanscience.com was when it all came together.
Now, I assign my students certain videos to watch and take notes on. They come to class, ask questions, and are ready to work on problems. If one student doesn't know an answer, another will. It is fantastic! They teach each other, I monitor to make sure they are solidifying correct information, and the class practically runs itself
Kindly inform me if you are doing cool Tech things in your classroom. Do not worry about small or big. Small or Big -- Sharing is Wonderful! Make this as a platform for sharing your Technology Special Projects.
